Opioid Settlement Funds
Beginning in July 2021, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office announced a multi-billion dollar resolution with opioid distributors and pharmaceutical companies, which will provide more than $500 million to the Commonwealth and its cities and towns. Funds from these settlements began flowing into Massachusetts in June2022, and disbursement of these funds will continue annually through 2038.
Hampshire HOPE – the region’s county wide coalition focused on the impacts of opioid use in collaboration with Hampshire County municipalities and public health partners, created a shared survey to elevate the voices of community members.

Beginning on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, responses will begin to be analyzed. Each city/town will have access to responses that are specific to their community members. This will help municipal leaders decide which strategies to prioritize. Each city/town’s plan to spend opioid settlement funds will be unique to how respondents answered.
On a county-wide level, Hampshire HOPE will create a regional report. This report will summarize patterns and trends collected on a larger geographical scale. All individual responses will be anonymous and protected – the county-wide report will help communities identify shared strategies that may emerge.
Please check back in Spring 2025 to view a Hampshire County Summary.
